Dwell not always working in same file

Post by Black70 »

Hey, I just cut a fire pit with a lot of small rectangle to slide my plate. In one of the rectangle on 5 sides out of 6, the torch started to move before cutting resulting in slots that had to be machined off. It also did this with one of the legs to put underneath. Where should I look to fix this. Is it sheetcam, the drawing, the torch?? Tks

Some plasma cutters take varying amounts of time to start the arc. With these the only way to get a truly reliable pierce is to use a THC system with arc detection. That way it waits for the arc before starting cutting.

A less than ideal workaround is to increase your pierce delay quite a bit. This will make bigger pierce holes and increase consumable wear.

Ok, now where do I buy one of these things? Is it like a universal item or it's brand specific. My table is a Tracker and my plasma is an Hypertherm 65. Tks

The Hypertherm has an arc transfer signal in the cpc port on the rear. Does your tracker system have an input to hold motion until the arc has transferred?
