I think I got it.... The I & J is the X & Y location for the center of the arc relative to where the arc starts at. another way to put it..... The arc start location is a temporary new origin from where the center of the arc is measured from. I read my G-code guide a lot today and it finally...

I&J Circle Interpolation

I thought I had this figured out on how write the code for a circle. But I'm at a loss.

Can someone share some documentation on how to lay out an arc and a circle with I & J G-code.

Been on it most of the day and I'm brain locked...

Thanks, AJ

Les, The problem with a inside contour, the machine is cutting the full diameter of the tool as it goes around the contour. There is no step over as in a pocket operation. And when I use a "pocket" there is a plunge cut near the center and it steps over from there and no finish contour. I ...

Here's the code that I wrote to do the operation. It's a long process to plot the points and write the code. There has to better / faster way to do this same type of operation.

I know I'm not seeing the big picture..

Thanks for the suggestions.

Copeing / fishmouth pipe

I'm trying to use sheetcam to do a simple milling operation. I have basically a "D" shaped contour to mill and I'd like to use the side of an end mill and not do any plunge cuts. Trying to start on the inside of the straight of a "D" shapped contour which is off the end of the pi...

Identifying open paths

It's so much to cad... I wish someone would of told me some hints.... Took me untold hours to learn how do draw correctly in cad. Sheetcam shows the problem but depending on how large the gap is.... An import link setting of .31mm, a gap of 3mm, it won't fix it and you still have to go back to cad.....

In autoCAD you can type in pedit and hit enter. From there follow the prompts to convert a bunch of lines into a polyline. When I have a problem contour, I'll explode the polyline and then go to pedit to reconnect all the segments. Drag a selection box from bottom right to top left over the lines yo...

My Hats off to Sean for figuring that out...!! Just confirmed it also. He's correct. With the tick box un-checked, sheetcam puts the S codes and (DTHC-on) and (DTHC-off) in the g-code on it's own line. When the tick box is checked, it reports the same, but wrongly puts the code on the same line as t...

Les, I removed the program and went back and also deleted all folders too. Just to make sure it was all gone. Did a hard boot and re-installed SheetCAM. Used the post you put on the forum for me too. IT WORKS PERFECT !! Thanks so much for helping me / us again. Your support is second to none! Have a...

WOW ! That's the first time that the rules have ran correctly sense Ive been working with them. Ran like a champ in Mach. Now I'll remove and re-install the SC program and or replace the post with the one you put up on the forum. Now we know what to look for and it's easily identified. My hat's off ...

Les, I have SC installed on two separate computers,,, Home and work. Both I let do auto updates and use the same tool set. Both are the newest version of sheetcam as you mentioned. I wouldn't think the program is corrupt, but that sure would be an easy fix.... I get the same code from both computers...

Les, I've made some progress on trying to run a program with rules in the g-code. Of course it works in simulation mode in SC just fine. And it works in Mach when I "single step" each line. The S codes are read and they toggle the DTHC on and off. But here's the twist. When tap file is run...

Rules not working

Les, I'm not understanding some little something. I'm trying to use Rules for turning DTHC off during small arcs and then back on after. The tap file looks correct to me. And in SheetCAM simulation, it seems to show up correct too, but there isn't a little window telling me when the DTHC is on or of...
