Re: Sheetcam pocketing
Do you have the two contours on the same layer? if so, it should pocket the contour and leave the island.

Re: Pause after rapid move?
You can put M0 or M1 in the program after each part. M0 will always stop the machine, M1 will stop it if you have optional stop turned on. Either way, the machine stops movement and you have to push cycle start to resume.

Re: sheetcam not accepting dxf
You might check to see if you have the part drawn in inches and are importing metric... if you do that, the part becomes so small to almost be invisible, you have to zoom way in to even see it.

Re: Rest material milling
Isn't that accomplished by just clicking on translate, choose the center of the hole and type in 0,0? That's how I do it.

Re: Rest material milling
What I usually do in this case is to rough out the pocket as you have shown, then do a contour pass with the smaller end mill, maybe two passes with a larger offset on the first if you have more in the corners than a single pass will get. Not exactly rest machining, but it usually works out pretty w...

Re: Finishing pass for contour
What Les said... plus you don't change diameter of the tools, you just change the finish allowance offset. I've been running CNC mills and lathes since the 70's and never run a conventional pass for finishing and always have my finishing pass taking at least .005" or .1mm or you are rubbing and...

Re: Finishing pass for contour
You can do this when you specify your operations. First roughing pass leave your stock as an offset. Then write another operation right after it with no offset. I do all my passes climb cutting, not sure why you would ever want to run a reverse direction pass, but if you do, you would just have to c...

Re: Operations feedrate verses tool feedrate
Whatever you choose when you define the operation is what will be used. The default in the operation window will be what you put in in the tool definition table, but like I said, you can over ride that in the operation window.

Re: Postprocessor Sheetcam for Flexicam stealth 1530
You would need to give more information. Where do you call Z0? The table and all your Z depths are positive? Or is Z0 home position, as high as the spindle gets off the table? How about some actual programs from the previous software that worked? Can't actually offer suggestions if you won't provide...

Re: contour mill operation
Sheetcam doesn't handle this well, doesn't know where the stock is and do any sort of logical reducing from stock size to finished part profile. I tackle this in a couple ways... first and easiest, but wastes some time cutting air is to add roughing passes on the contour operation, say you do the fi...

Re: Post Processor help for Centroid Mill Control
OK, our posts kind of passed each other there. I understand what you mean about the clearance and plunge safety clearance. I left Clearance at Z.1 and changed Safety to Z.05 and it works as it should. I also unchecked the X and Y boxes in the Parking position and wrote M25 on one line then X16 Y2 on...

Re: Post Processor help for Centroid Mill Control
Hi Les, I tried the new post, closer, but still some issues. 1. Still getting the lack of Z.1 after the first tool. See line 343 2. Still see a lot of multiple Z depths call outs when profiling around the part. It seems to list the Z even though it hasn't change from every swap from G1 to G2/3. See ...

Re: Post Processor help for Centroid Mill Control
Hi Les, thank you for the reply. I have attached the job file and the .tap file for a rectangular nut that I just got done making. You will see that the first tool is a 3/16" end mill and the program tells it to move to Z.1 on N0140 (line 14) and then when the next tool is called, a 3/8 90º cha...

Post Processor help for Centroid Mill Control
Hi Les, I recently converted my Milltronics CNC mill to a Centroid All in One DC Servo system. I was able to use my exiting post for the Milltronics, which I had cobbled together from a Mach3 post and a Fanuc post, with some help from you for a few things. But, it does some things I need changed and...
